Real Venice
is a special initiative for the 150th anniversary of Italian Unity of the Italian Pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia.


About the 54th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia

  - Preview: 1-2-3 June 2011
  - Awards Ceremony and Official Opening: 4 June 2011
  - Open to the public: 4 June - 27 November 2011

The director of the 54th International Art Exhibition is Bice Curiger; art historian, critic and curator.   The exhibition, titled ILLUMInazioni – ILLUMInations is laid out in the Central Pavilion in the Giardini and in the Arsenale, featuring 83 artists from all over the world. 
 
The Exhibition is paralleled by 89 National Participations, a record for the Art Biennale (they were 77 in 2009). The countries that are participating for the first time include Andorra, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, and Haiti. 37 Collateral Events have been arranged by international organizations and institutions, set up in various locations around the city.
